Jyotirlinga Series: Grishneswar Temple at Maharashtra is another one of the 12 main Jyotirlingas in the country.
The legend of this temple is full of twists and turns, murder, deceit, faithfulness, love, devotion - it just has it ALL!
So, let's know the story in detail shall we?

Once there was a brahmin called Sudharma who was married to a lady called Sudeha, but had no offsprings.
That's why Sudeha got Sudharma married to her own sister Ghushma so that atleast she could beget him a son.
She also advised her sister to create, worship a linga and immerse it daily in the nearby lake for the same.
With time, pleased with the efforts, Shiva blessed her with a son. All was happy and well for some time, but soon Sudeha became jealous of her own sister.
In an act of jealousy, she murdered the son and threw his body into the lake. The son's wife got to know about the killings and went crying to Ghushma.
However, it was time for Ghushma's daily ritual of creating and worshipping the linga, and she went forth with it, without reacting to the news.
While immersing the linga in the lake, she saw her son, alive and walking towards her from the lake itself!
Even Shiva appeared there and blessed Ghushma. He also asked her whether he should punish her sister to which she replied in the negative. In fact, she asked him to forgive her! She then requested Shiva to stay there forever and that is how the Grishneswar Jyotirlinga came into existence.
